2008 EQUINE BENEFIT

"A NIGHT WITH THE HORSES"
NOVEMBER 15, 2008

On the evening of November 15, 2008, at Battaglia Farms, LLP, Scottsdale, Arizona, 400 horse industry members came together to celebrate their love of horses and to raise money for the Morris Animal Foundation. The audience included horse owners, trainers, enthusiasts and their families. The program included a complimentary buffet, cash bar, and live and silent auctions. The high point of the evening was a presentation of world champion horses representing multiple breeds and disciplines.

The Morris Animal Foundation was established in 1948 by Dr Mark L. Morris, Sr. The purpose of the Morris Animal Foundation (MAF) is to provide funding for humane research that will benefit the health and welfare of animals.

Every dollar of every unrestricted donation goes to fund animal health studies - not to MAF operating or administrative costs. MAF is the largest charitable, non-profit, non-governmental source of animal health study funding in the world.

In 1959 MAF began funding equine health studies and has to date provided over $8 million in financial support for approximately 250 equine health studies.

The Morris Animal Foundation Equine Health Initiative includes the Equine Health Initiative Endowment ($10 million), the Equine Consortium for Genetic Research ($2.5 million), and Sponsored Research Projects ($250,000 annually).

Morris Animal Foundation depends on donations to fund these projects. A NIGHT WITH THE HORSES, gave the Arizona horse community a chance to come together for an evening to celebrate the horse and raise funds to improve the future of equine healthcare.
