Originally from North Carolina, Dr. Harris graduated from Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in May of 1983. Following one year in a rural mixed-animal practice in southern Wisconsin, she moved to Phoenix, AZ to begin employment at Chaparral Animal Hospital where she treated both small animal and equine patients.
In 1988 she left Chaparral Animal Hospital and in 1989 purchased Village Plaza Animal Hospital, an AAHA accredited exotic and small animal hospital on Tatum Blvd. in Phoenix. For the next thirteen years Dr. Harris saw small animal and exotic patients in the hospital and equine medical and surgical cases in the field. Eventually both practice disciplines expanded and time limitations forced the sale of Village Plaza Animal Hospital.
